
(Beijing, February 28) In an all-Chinese affair of the men's -80kg quarterfinals of the "Good Luck Beijing" 2008 Taekwondo International Invitational Tournament at the Beijing Science and Technology University Gymnasium this afternoon, Zhu Guo overpowered Pan Dongdong to enter the semifinals. Also making the semis are: Ali Sari (TUR), Juan Sanchez (PUR) and Abdalrhman Osama (EGY).
Ali Sari of Turkey, in his quarterfinal against Sebastien Michaud of Canada, set up a 1-0 lead after the first round. The Canadian managed to tie the score at 1 all in the second. Sari broke the deadlock in the third hitting the winning point to enter the next phase.
In the all-Chinese quarterfinal between Zhu Guo and Pan Dongdong, Zhu maintained his control of the match as he led 1-0 and 2-1 after the first two rounds before carrying it with a result of 3-1 as a whole.
Balazs Toth of Hungary took on Juan Sanchez of Puerto Rico in the third match and the score was tied at 1 all after the first round. Sanchez found his form in the second to lead 3-1 before both were deducted one in the third. The Puerto Rican cruised into the semis with a 2-0 win.
Egyptian Abdairhman Osama clinched a berth in the top four without fighting because of the withdrawal of his quarterfinal rival Carlo Molfetta of Italy.
