(Beijing February 29) In a highlighted match of the "Good Luck Beijing" Taekwondo International Invitational Tournament of the men's +80kg quarterfinals this afternoon, China's Liu Xiaobo suffered a 3-2 setback at the hands of the French star Pascal Gentil. Liu equalized the score 2-2 in the last ten seconds, but Pascal seized an opportunity four seconds towards the end of the match to clinch the victory.

Commenting on his performance today, Liu said, "Our winter training emphasized continuous hits and physical strength. Though I lost this match I felt I was in shape. Pascal Gentil is an athlete I respect and like most, I will try to improve myself and meet him face to face again at the Beijing Olympics."

Talking about his feelings when competing against Pascal Gentil, Liu said, "I fought with him as if I were flying! Ever since I began my career as a taekwondo athlete I've liked his double kicks, and I wish I would have such an ability some day."

When asked about the reason of his loss, Liu said, "I had a good chance, but I was a bit relaxed in the last five seconds after equalizing the score at 2-2, thinking that we would enter the sudden death round anyway."

Pascal Gentil also acknowledged Liu's performance, saying, "I felt he was much stronger than before!" As for the Beijing Olympics, the French veteran said, "Though I'm not sure whether I will be able to participate in the Olympics, my goal is to win the Olympic gold."
